Large pages are split into smaller pieces. At the top of the page, you will see links for browsing the page parts. At the
bottom, there is a link to the next part. You can customize or turn off page partitioning in the menu
Settings -> Page partitioning.
Save/Load Pages
PocketWeb lets you store pages on the phone in order to view them again later without making another internet connection. To save the currently visible page,
select Extras -> Save Current Page from the menu. Saved pages can be accessed via
Extras Load Page.....
Images are excluded from saving and appear
[like this]
when viewing a saved
page. For viewing the image, select Load Image...
from the menu (a new
internet connection will be established).
Save/Load page is not available in the 64kB version
for old Nokia phones.
Menu Overview
Access to menu commands varies by phone model. Often they are accessible
via 'Menu', 'Options', or 'More'.
- URL
- Enter a web address or use a previously entered address.
- Back
- Go to previous page. You can as well go back by pressing your phone's back-button. Going back does not necessarily load the previous page again from
the internet. Already viewed pages are stored in the phones cache and are retrieved from there. You can adjust how many pages should be kept in cache in
the menu Settings->Cache size. A larger cache size requires more memory on your phone.
- Stop
- Interrupt page loading. Stops loading text or images immediately. Note: Does not work while "waiting for reply".
- Load Image...
- Manually load image (necessary only if images do not load automatically, see Settings->Images). You are prompted to select an image from
the current screen, or to choose loading all images currently visible on the screen.
- Bookmarks
- Add Bookmark:
- Add the current page to My WebPages or My NewsFeeds,
depending on what content you are viewing.
- My WebPages:
- Go to a bookmarked page or edit MyWebPages
- My NewsFeeds:
- Go to a bookmarked RSS feed or edit My NewsFeeds.
- SmartBookmarks:
- Access your SmartBookmarks account. For more
information, please read here.
Find in page Search for a phrase in current
page starting from the cursor. If found, the page will be scrolled down
to the hit. (This feature is not present in the 64kB version for old Nokia phones.)
Reload Load current page again. Important if errors occurred during loading.
Settings Program settings (see next page).
Unlock Key This command lets you enter a registration key to unlock the program. Uppercase or lowercase does not matter for the key. You may also
check the current status of your key by selecting Key status.
Help The same as clicking on "Short manual" in the start screen.
Extras (The Extras menu is not present in the 64kB version for old Nokia phones.)
- Save current page:
- Save current page to phone (only text is saved)
- Saved pages:
- Load a page from phone or delete saved
pages.
- Browse History:
- View current session's history. Pages which are
still in the phone's cache are maked by a "*". Current page is marked by a
">"
Exit PocketWeb Exit program. The program will save its settings and, after a
few seconds, return to the point where you started it.
Settings
PocketWeb is largely customizable to your own preferences. For changing the
settings, choose Settings from the menu.
-
Images
-
- Auto-load Images
- Decide if images should be automatically loaded. If off,
images will be appear
[like this], and can be loaded manually afterwards by
selecting Load image....
- Colors
- Choose color resolution. Lower values don't look so good, but
result in less traffic, faster download, and less memory consumption
- Restrictions
- Choose whether unimportant images should be ignored. Images
without an 'alt'-description attribute are considered to be unimportant. The
default is "ignore unimportant".
- Cache
- configure the size of the image
cache. On phones with low memory, it may be necessary to turn the cache off.
- Font Size
- Choose between small and large font size
- Page Partitioning
-
PocketWeb downloads pages in smaller pieces. Define here
how large these pieces are, or turn page partitioning off. Lower values result
in more pieces per page but less memory consumption.
- Cookies
- Accept Policy
- Choose if you want to accept or reject cookies, or if you like
to be asked for each cookie.
- Edit Cookies
- View the cookies currently stored on your phone and delete single cookies at your option.
- Cache size
- PocketWeb caches pages, so previously visited pages can be viewed without downloading them again from the internet. Here, you can adjust the
cache size. On some phones with low memory it may be necessary to turn the
cache entirely off.
- Forms
- Configure whether PocketWeb remembers previous form entries. When
set to "Remb. (no passwords)", PocketWeb remembers all entries except for
passwords.
- SSL Connections
- Configure whether PocketWeb is allowed to access SSL-encrypted sites. WARNING: Data sent between your device and the TLogic server is always transmitted unencrypted!
- Clear History
- Clears the URL history.
Some Hints...
- Java
applications need particular GPRS configurations set on your phone.
Depending on your phone and network provider, these settings may be different from your normal WAP settings. Please ask your network provider for the correct
settings. Many providers send you the configuration via SMS free of charge.
- On many phones you can configure data compression in your GPRS
settings. Turn 'data compression' and 'header compression' on for minimum GPRS
transfer.
